Plus, it’s easy to grow. Though it’s a tropical plant that thrives in warm, humid conditions, it’s simple to plant and nurture. Give it a bit of sun and it grows like a weed, rewarding you with exotic foliage and a large harvest of fresh turmeric in just a few seasons.

Planting & Care
1. Planting: First, find an area with full sun (6 to 8 hours of sunlight) and well-drained soil. Once you’ve selected a location, dig a hole that’s around twice the size of your plant’s root ball and just as deep. Then, place the Turmeric Plant, tamp down the soil and water to settle the roots.
If you live in a colder climate, plant your Turmeric in a container to bring inside during the winter. Select a container that’s about twice the width of your plant’s shipped pot and ensure it has drainage holes. Once you’ve planted, place your Turmeric Plant in front of a sunny window, preferably one that’s South-facing.
2. Watering: Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Generally, it’s ideal to check your soil about 3 inches down for dryness. If the soil is dry here, it’s time to water. Misting your Turmeric is also beneficial as it loves humidity.
3. Fertilizing: Feed your Turmeric every couple of months with compost tea or a fertilizer recommended for root crops.
4. Harvesting: When the leaves and stem start to turn brown and dry, your Turmeric is ready to harvest. Cut the stems off about an inch above the mass of rhizomes (the grouping of ginger-like Turmeric chunks) and wash well.
