Easy-Growing Violet-Green Groundcover

Why Society Garlic Plants?

Soft lilac blooms and grassy, richly-hued green foliage define the Society Garlic. And its beauty makes it one of the most versatile groundcover options available, especially since it spreads slowly and propagates easily. That means adaptability and versatility for you, wherever you need it.

And it works as a showy house plant in colder areas. The Society Garlic imparts year-round visual interest, regardless of the weather outside, since it’s tolerant of both cold and drought. But if you live in a chillier part of the county, simply bring your Society inside. Its larger, tubular flowers and cream-striped leaves shine no matter where they’re placed.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Choose an area with full sun and well-drained soil, and dig a hole that is twice as wide and just as deep as the container that the plant arrives in. Place your plant in the hole so that the top of the soil is even with the surrounding soil level. Backfill with soil, water after every few inches to remove any air pockets, and tamp down when done.

Mulching the surrounding soil is ideal to conserve moisture.

2. Watering: Water once or twice a week (sometimes more in extreme heat), allowing the soil to dry 1 to 2 inches down before watering again.

3. Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring before bloom with a well-balanced fertilizer. A 10-10-10 or all-purpose fertilizer is ideal – simply read and follow the label instructions.
